BookSource signs deal on new customer-facing site
We’re delighted to announce the signing of a recent agreement with BookSource – one of the UK’s fastest growing distributors of books, eBooks and music – on the development of a brand new customer-facing, eCommerce website – MyBookSource.com – to go live in the summer.
All products currently distributed by BookSource to retailers, wholesalers, booksellers, and supermarkets will soon be made available direct to the customer too – and in all formats available. The customer will be able to add multiple formats to their order as they browse the new site – from hard cover to eBook – and the responsive design will mean that the website adapts automatically to the device screen size, ensuring smooth navigation throughout, and facilitating purchase.
Customers will be able to read purchased eBooks on the device of their choice – smartphone, tablet, eReader or desktop – dependent on the relevant DRM setting.
This represents a really exciting new retail outlet for all BookSource publishing clients, and one which will serve both publisher and reader extremely well in the months and years ahead.
Furthermore – this new website could potentially be viewed as the first step towards the redevelopment of a publisher’s own direct to consumer eCommerce site – available at a fraction of standard web development costs, and complete with all the bells and whistles included within this initial proposal.
Davinder Bedi, BookSource Managing Director, said: ‘Our mission is to help publishers do business, and MyBookSource.com will do just that. In adding this new path to market for our clients we look to grow their turnover by increasing discoverability of what they do. Our publishers have great books and our music lists have great music, and MyBookSource.com gives even more customers the chance to get their hands on them. Firsty has a lot of experience within the publishing industry, and we’re very excited to working in partnership with them. This is an important project for BookSource, and their input is invaluable.’
Darin Brockman, CEO and Founder of Firsty Group added, ‘It’s fantastic to be working with BookSource on this new eCommerce development, and we’re convinced that publishers will significantly benefit from the new retail outlet. Providing publishers and distributors with a viable, direct alternative to traditional book retail routes is becoming ever more important, and we’re delighted to have signed an agreement with the BookSource team on such a project.’
